An Intricate Past
Canada was formerly know of as "British North America," as it was run by the government of Britain. As Britain gained control over the land, numerous people resisted the colonization of Upper North America. Many attempts were made by the new government to create a fair environment for the immigrants and settlers, though as laws and acts were created, resistance was always met. Three significant events of Canadian history will be outlined: The War of 1812, the Westward Expeditions, and the Proposal and Signing of the British North America Act. Each holds extreme importance when analyzing how present-day Canada came to be.
